At 7:00 pm, people open their windows and make much noise.. Banging pots with spoons, Whistling, playing tuba, and one person hooks up the stereo to play ‘New York, New York’, sung by Frank Sinatra. A great unifying spirit flows throughout the courtyard and neighborhood.
This is done to show appreciation for all of the front line workers on duty at the hospitals, and nursing homes and postal workers and delivery people , firemen, Police and EMS etc. We all appreciate their hard work and the risks they take every day.
