P.s. The Institute of Musical Art I believe became the Juilliard School of Music (still in New York City). It has a new branch in China apparently.
I never knew her. I saw her face (Photograph) in an old book with her biography attached. It caught my attention, as I felt there emanated a certain melancholy and yearning in her face. They don’t photograph people’s portraits the way they used to, in black and white film with so many shadows etc. I wish I had been given the opportunity to say hello to her, but alas, she was way before my time.
