  1. Occasionally I think of my father’s good friends he cherished towards the last years of his life.
    They say you can judge a man by his library and his friends.
    He had three special friends.
    They were all men, they were all gifted, and they all had great respect for my father.
    Helmet was from Germany and was a piano technician and tuner, Richard was a cantor with a beautiful voice and took me to my first Yankee game, and Mark was a genius creative thinker and pianist, composer. Mark Willed us his Steinway piano when he died, and I thought about his cremation ashes being put into the large flower pot outside, in front of his apartment building.
