  1. The spirit looks jolly with the two sides of the glasses (or are they cheeks?) in different shapes. The spread arms look like they are opening a huge gift box or opening windows to greet friends.

  2. Thanks Yul. I really wasn’t creating eye glasses. Actually, I’m not really sure what was the reason I made those shapes, but I do remember that I started with the shapes first, then the nose and then the eyes and eventually the mouth and face shape etc. If the long arms have opened a huge present, then, we are inside the present box looking out at the world. The other pieces (two cars) were drawn later and the color added last. Nat Sherman is a cigar store brand in New York City. They have a very old world elegant cigar store on the east side of 5th Avenue, 42nd street.
